Just like the disciples back in Bible days, there're many today who don't know Jesus as the Christ. They merely see Him as the great prophet. Some see Him as the great teacher, while some others see Him as the great healer. But Jesus is all that and much more. He is "the Christ."
The word "Christ" is from the Greek word "Christos," which refers to the Messiah or the anointed One, and His anointing. So contrary to what some folks believe, "Christ" is not Jesus' surname; instead it refers to the anointing that makes Him who He is. The anointing empowered Him supernaturally for His earthly ministry.
Remember, though He was Himself God, He ministered as the son of man while He was on earth. But the anointing came into His life when the Holy Spirit came upon Him at the River Jordan (John 1:32-33), and that was when He became "the Christ." He didn't perform a single miracle until the anointing of the Holy Spirit came upon Him and made Him "the Christ." The anointing gave Him the ability to do the mighty works He did.
The Bible says "How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him" (Acts 10:38). The same anointing that made Jesus "the Christ" came into your life when you received salvation. When the Holy Spirit came into your life, you became anointed and divinely enabled; you too have been endued with supernatural abilities.
PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for granting me the revelation of Jesus as the Christ. I also thank you for helping me realize that the same anointing that made Jesus the Christ is at work in me; therefore I have inherent supernatural ability to effect changes and do great things, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
