Believe The Best Of Others

...Love cares more for others than for self. Love doesn't want what it doesn't have. Love... Puts up with anything; Trusts God always, always looks for the best, never looks back, but keeps going to the end (1 Corinthians 13:4,7 MSG).

As Christians, we ought to provide a sense of security for one another. I like the idea of living freely among God's people as the Bible admonishes us to. That's how it ought to be. You shouldn't clam up and want to be on your guard always because of some negative reports you heard about others. That's why it's important to walk in love, for love always believes the best about others.

Some people love to gossip; they are busybodies in other people's affairs, and the Bible warns us not to be that way! Such folks sow seeds of discord among brethren and attempt to pollute the whole Church with strife, "speaking things which they ought not" (1 Timothy 5:13). It's unsafe to hang around such people for they only spread resentment and rancour. Many churches have had troubles because of them.

When you hear negative reports about people, your reaction is what determines whether you're walking in love or not. Always be ready to believe only the best about everyone. Never criticize anyone. Never write anyone off, just because of what you heard they said or did. When you hear a fellow believer defaming or tale-bearing about another brother or sister, correct him or her immediately, in love. We often make the mistake of keeping quiet when we know people are saying the wrong things about others. By such we become accomplices for giving them a hearing ear. If you shut your ears, they'll shut their mouths.

Jesus chose to believe the best about His disciples. He knew, for example, that Peter was going to deny Him, yet He said to him, "...Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren." (Luke 22:31-32). Choose to believe the best in others today, for that's the love-way; the way of victory!

CONFESSION
My heart is full of love, because the love of God has been deposited in my spirit by the Holy Ghost. I make a choice today to love everyone that I meet, and speak and believe the best of everyone, irrespective of how they may treat me. I will cover those I meet with grace, and shielf them with my umbrella of love, in the Name of Jesus.

Trelan's notes:
Above, Pastor Anita advises that we believe the best in others. Did you know that as lovely as that is there's also a spiritual component to that? When you sow strife/discord, badmouthing others, you're setting up yourself of reaping a harvest of the same? Not only that, but there is a secret that folks aren't often aware of; when someone fights against you without a cause, they've halted their progress indefinately until you surpass them.

"And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? "(1 Corinthians 3:3)

Apostle Paul showed us that people who function in strife are carnal, babies in Christ and mere men. Not as children of the Most High God. Remember Jesus (in John 10:34 ) mentions your status; "Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?". He was referring to Psalm 82:6 "I have said, Ye [are] gods; and all of you [are] children of the most High."
But how can you function in the supernatural when you've anchored down yourself with strife?
In general negative behaviour and emotions weaken your spirit; opening the door for the devil to accuse you, and demons to torment you.
